public decency

Photos by Alvin

I'm always in some form of lingerie (and my parents do not approve), but the trick to wearing lingerie in public is to dress it down with something totally casual like this denim dress. Plaid works too.

I love getting two-piece sets because it makes it easy for you to wear everything twice, three times, every day essentially. Stay tuned for the matching skirt to this Pixie Market top, y'all!

fire island

A few snaps from last weekend in Fire Island. It's crazy how one day at the beach can significantly improve my skin tone, by the end of the summer, it seems like the direction that I'm headed - I'll be nice and toasted by the end of the summer.

Oh, and pay no mind to my phone. It's on its last few lives.

Happy Friday, all!

Sometimes my middle school self comes out and just wants to wear Timberlands and a T-shirt for the day. Or sometimes she's just heading to a Kanye concert where Kendrick Lamar killed it with his usual self and Kanye wore a mask pretty much during the entire show - a mask reminiscent of Margiela AW '12 on the runway. Now the outfit (and the title of this post) makes sense, right?

Anyway, the concert was freaking phenomenal. Kanye always knows how to put on a show and I'm so glad I finally go to see him perform live! Thanks Alvin for being romantic

Plus this reversible bomber is now my life. I mean besides the amazing selling point of it being reversible, it's soft and surprisingly wind-resistant. I'm all about practicality!

Ye-Day should be a weekly occurrence. Shoutout to MeKayla for opening my eyes to such wonder.

the week's end

Photos by Paulina

Too cold to post anything remotely fashionable - these days I'm all about layering and neutrals, I'm not trying to put too much effort in when it's 30 degrees outside, y'know? But on a brighter, lighter note - I can't wait to show you guys what I got at the Isabel Marant for H&M launch!

Have an awesome weekend, guys!

to the rescue

ShopKoshka white dress  |  thrifted loafers

I can't, for the life of me, remember where this sweater is from. Good thing Urban Outfitters always comes to the rescue with a bunch of similar sweaters here, here and here. This has got to be the ultimate fall outfit, throw on a short dress and an oversized sweater with your favorite short boots or loafers.

I never thought that a pair of vertical striped overalls would be a staple in my closet, but they kinda are. I wore these at least three times this week and totally not ashamed of it. But then again, you know me - anything goes with a grey T.

I haven't been keeping up with the blog lately as much as I could be, but I've been brainstorming a schedule for y'all now that summer's coming up and there's more free time on the weekends - but hey, exciting posts coming up. Costa Rica's next week and there's gotta be some incredible sights there right?

the oversized trench coat | first look

The weather's finally looking up, the sun's finally peaking out, is spring actually here, guys? I went with this skirt that's just ben sitting in my closet waiting for the perfect day. Its thick, wooly material makes it the perfect winter-spring transitional skirt. Paired tons of grey(ish) layers on top and voilà!

A piece that I think every girl (and guy?) should have in their closet is a trench coat of some sort. Oversized, fitted, short, long - take your pick. This Lulu's oversized coat from BB Dakota is lightweight and incredible with anything and everything. I'll be doing the 1 piece, 3 ways series again so stay tuned for some more looks with this one!

Psst - 15% off at Lulu's with the code KRISTENGLAM (case sensitive, guys!) will be good until Saturday March 16, 2013! Get steppin' over to Lulu's!

Urban Outfitters varsity jacket (similar)  |  random crop top  |  thrifted boyfriend jeans (similar)  |  Senso shoes from LF  |  vintage LV bag  |  Urbanears headphones  |  gifted Iconemesis iPhone case

These mom jeans aren't the most attractive of the bunch. Especially for a little shortie like me. But with just a little bit of height from these new Senso shoes, I think I can pull it off. I paired these highwaisted jeans with a crop top and a varsity jacket (as always). Obviously, I was feeling a little street, so these Urbanears were a perfect addition to the outfit, giving the outfit a bit of a nonchalant, hiphop vibe that it desperately needed.

plaid, plaid world

If I lived in the city, I'd be poor. There's no doubt about that. I took a walk with a friend after dinner to "digest" - walked around Soho and of course, came across this beauty of a jacket at Urban Outfitters. With its leather sleeves and tailored fit, I had to have it. It was an impulse by at nearly 10:00pm at night and it's safe to say that I slept like a baby that night.

And congratulations to Laura N. for winning the Nicole Miller #NMHolidays giveaway - thank you everyone to participating, stay tuned for more exciting giveaways!

the holidays : nicole miller giveaway

Photos by Landon
gifted Nicole Miller dress  |  Urban Outfitters jacket  |  Zara heels

There's something about the holidays that just makes everyone go insane with accessories. I didn't feel the need to throw any jewels on top of this dress and kept it simple with my favorite pair (and most comforable) of Zara heels and a sleek leather sleeved jacket that I bought recently on a whim. The chiffon bottom and side slit makes an otherwise relatively simple dress a little bit fancier and more party-appropriate. Nicole Miller always makes it easy for everyone to style it their own way, so they're giving you a chance to win this very dress to do just that!

For a chance to win a gorgeous Nicole Miller maxi dress of your own, here's what you've gotta do!

1. Follow @NicoleMillerNYC on Twitter.
2. Follow me on Bloglovin'.
3. Tweet me at @kristengracelam with #NMHolidays and comment below with your email address and tell me what you're going to be wearing during the holidays.

I'll announce the winner on Twitter and Facebook a week from now on Wednesday, November 28th, 2012 - so fingers crossed and good luck everyone!

Four layers and counting, New York City weather will do that to you. It'll make you work up a sweat commuting to work in your seemingly necessary layers while making you completely rethink your outfit choice once you're in a heated office building. I even layered on the necklaces, one of my old favorites and one of the new courtesy of Hello Berry - they make dainty jewelry for pretty much everyday wear. Use the code BLOGGERF35 for an exclusive 35% off your purchase for being such an awesome reader!

silver sleeves

ShopWasteland jacket  |  H&M shirt  |  UO pants  |  Zara heels

There's a Space Jam feel to this jacket that just caught my eye when I saw it on the Wasteland site. The metallic sleeves give such detail and character to an otherwise basic varsity jacket that I probably own already. You can't go wrong with pairing it with grey and some light denim, balancing the outfit with a pair of boyish, baggy trousers and a pair of feminine, pointed heels.

so fresh so clean

Insight dress (on sale)  |  Line & Dot pinstriped blazer  |  ASOS flatforms  |  gifted Pinky Thumb sideways cross necklace

It's practically fall, but people, 80 degree weather calls for bare legs. I paired a light floral printed dress with a pinstriped blazer for a subtle mixed printed look that just seems kind of off-season. So over the arm party and very much into minimal accessories, this sideways cross necklace is sure to be an everyday wear, much like the black hair tie that's always on my wrist.

To #beattheheat in New York this summer, I threw on the absolute least amount of clothing on my body. Judge me all you want, but at least I'm cool. I have a feeling silk slips are gonna be a staple this summer. God help me. (On another note: who likes my post title?)

BIRTHDAY SUIT

H&M floral shirt  |  UO ruffle skirt (similar here)  |  Senso shoes  |  H&M necklace (similar concept here!)

My birthday suit consisted of a girlier ruffled skirt under a floral silk shirt and my instant tough chic Senso shoes. Paulina gave me this awesome Flintstone-glam necklace and I've been wearing it the past couple days to work, to bed, to school. Yeah, I'm gonna rock Flintstone-glam until it's trendy - pun intended.

By the way, it's been long overdue, but check out my Wiseling feature - some tips and tricks to intense vintage shopping. Head on over here and tell me what you think!

I'm reaaaaaaal excited to tell ya'll about what's coming up next!
