ladies who brunch on sundays

Photos by Alvin

A week long overdue post but still so relevant on this fine Memorial Day (and the last day of this awesome long weekend). Headed over to the best Sunday brunch with French Connection's finest, Kristi and Delia, and had some incredible food and catchup at The Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel with some old and new friends. It was the coolest kickoff for spring and of course, I was decked out in this floral jumpsuit that closely resembles lemons (can't be mad at that) with a sheer, embellished long sleeve under and a pretty perfect leather jacket. And then of course, a backpack is necessary for pretty much any occasion.

Hope everyone's enjoying their Memorial Day while I sit in the sun and recover from this weekend's festivities! Yes.

nyfw | jcrew fall winter '14

So much for trying to opt out of the New York Fashion Week craziness. Headed to the J.Crew Fall / Winter '14 presentation at the Pavilion this morning and man, oh man - the florals, prints, textures were everywhere. The silhouettes were surprisingly appropriate for the current weather, especially with all of the layering and I can definitely see myself in so many of these outfits. Plus, I just realized that I might need a pair of oversized sequin bermuda shorts.

Favorites? The casual grey sweaters / T's, the textured floral brocade and those puffer jackets. Hello winter, I welcome you.

florals in full

Lulu's floral dress  |  H&M cashmere sweater  |  vintage Coach bag

I wish you guys could see the full floral glory of this Lulu's floral dress. Chiffon, floral and backless - it looks like I'm on the wrong side of America, y'all. But hey, throw my favorite grey cashmere sweater over it and you've got an outfit fit to bear the insane polar vortex that never seems like it's gonna end.

boyish charm

When I was young, people claimed that if I had short hair, I would look like a boy. That might explain my affinity for masculine silhouettes. So here we go with these Lulu's trousers. They're perfectly slouchy to show off just an inch or two of midriff and stop right above the ankle to show off a pair of my favorite loafers.

good deals: the asos sale

Untitled #12

Untitled #13

velcro black flat sandals

Just a few things that I'd be spending my paycheck on - and they're all such a good deal. Because floral rompers and scarf printed culottes should be in everyone's wardrobe.

ASOS knows how to do a good sale. AND they're giving us 20% off full price items? Man, they love us.

birthday suit

Waldrip floral blazer  |  random boutique crop top  |  gifted Gypsy Warrior acid skinnys  |  Senso shoes  |  gifted Gypsy Warrior necklace

Despite my serious-ish face in this post, this year has really been one of the best birthdays I've had - but then again, that's what everyone says every year when their birthday comes around. Yes, this year - my birthday suit is a little more scandalous with the cut-out crop top but the tailored floral blazer pulls it all together, doesn't it? This Waldrip blazer might just be a new favorite, yep.

Two posts in one day? I just couldn't wait to style this Koshka blazer! The thing things I love about this blazer are the light silk, unstructured silhouette, the faded, bleached out floral print and the way that it falls just right on my shoulders (shoutout to Joanne for helping me choose the size!). I paired a pair of Big Star waxed jeans and a light chiffon top with the blazer to make the blazer the statement piece in my outfit. I've already got so many ideas for this blazer for the fall, maybe with this skirt from Koshka? Stay tuned!

3.1 phillip lim : spring 2013

There's none quite like Phillip Lim. I don't know how I could ever love a collection so much, I held my breath when going through the entire collection on Vogue, not only because the internet was moving at a glacially slow pace, but because of the distinguishing oversized coats, micro-floral prints, and plaid in chiffon and beads.

It'd be an understatement to say that I'd give up my entire current wardrobe for a few of these pieces, among some favorites are the floral oversized cargo vest (reminiscent of my only convertible vest) , the sheer plaid shirt, the floral baseball bomber and the embellished plaid dress.

thakoon : spring 2013

Photos from Vogue

Thakoon gets me with minimal style, gorgeous embroidery, chiffon paneling and floral details for a distinctly tailored, yet feminine look that I'd probably rock with my favorite sleeveless moto vest. Swoon. Instant swoon.

heatwave

H&M scalloped chiffon tank  |  Urban Outfitters silk shorts  |  H&M metallic sandals

If you've been in New York this past week - you'd know that the sweltering heat these past two days have been unbearable. It was quite a dilemma waking up in the morning and deciding what to wear, when I just didn't wanna wear anything. I chose the thinnest pairs of shorts I could find and easy sandals. Heels are not favorable because I'll end up sweating more, and that my friends, is not attractive. I threw my hair up into a messy bun and there you go, my tutorial on what to wear on a 90+ degree day in New York City.

Here are a few snapshots of the Jimmy Choo 24:7 Stylemakers event a few weeks ago. Check out how much of a difference those 5 inch killer heels made. I still love those Jimmy Choo motorcycle boots though. They're absolutely perfect. Ahem, I'm a 38/39 if anyone just won the lotto.

BIRTHDAY SUIT

H&M floral shirt  |  UO ruffle skirt (similar here)  |  Senso shoes  |  H&M necklace (similar concept here!)

My birthday suit consisted of a girlier ruffled skirt under a floral silk shirt and my instant tough chic Senso shoes. Paulina gave me this awesome Flintstone-glam necklace and I've been wearing it the past couple days to work, to bed, to school. Yeah, I'm gonna rock Flintstone-glam until it's trendy - pun intended.

By the way, it's been long overdue, but check out my Wiseling feature - some tips and tricks to intense vintage shopping. Head on over here and tell me what you think!

I'm reaaaaaaal excited to tell ya'll about what's coming up next!
