I'm not sure why I insist on wearing and loving midi skirts. It's not like I'm exactly 5'9", but there's something about midi skirts that are just so appropriate for any weather. I picked up this one from ASOS a while back, and the wool makes it perfectly transitional into the spring. I have my eye on this major green striped statement skirt though. But for now, while New York is still deciding on whether or not it's going to be spring - I'll stick with my monochromatic tones.

Also, if you know me, you'll know that I always need a hairtie on my wrist, I've found my match in Twistband ties, I can literally match my outfit with any color that they have.

this is madness, this is new york

Guys, it's 46 degrees and I'm wearing less than 4 layers - an asymmetric skirt from Koshka (very much Helmut Lang inspired, but way more affordable!) that I've been dying to wear for the warmer weather and a collared shirt under a uniquely pea green colored open knit sweater. The lightweight trench is great to throw on anything, the color is classic and the silhouette is just so me. These TSUBO Footwear heels really changed the game for me. They're the most comfortable shoes I own - so far at least - and they're black, which means they're going with everything in my closet.

Yesterday it was snowing, today it's spring. This is madness. This is New York.

reintroduction to florals

Photos by Landon

When I was first introduced to Modavanti and their dedication to sustainable fashion. All the brands and products available on their site are eco-friendly and they donate 2% of their entire revenue to charity. They carry some pretty incredible brands, I was introduced to Westward Leaning and I was sold after I saw these matte black sunglasses with mirrored lens (Cindy, you need to check these out!). I've been carrying them in my bag hoping for a sunny day in New York City, with spring coming up, I'm sure I'll be rocking these everywhere.

Also, me in peplum? I'm starting to get into it. It cinches in my waist in the best way imaginable. Paired this girly Sugarlips top with my go-to baggy boyfriend jeans and heels. The second look featuring this trench coat had to be spring appropriate.

Borrowed Landon's oversized shearling jacket for the wind outside, but seriously contemplating stealing it from his closet.

the oversized trench coat | first look

The weather's finally looking up, the sun's finally peaking out, is spring actually here, guys? I went with this skirt that's just ben sitting in my closet waiting for the perfect day. Its thick, wooly material makes it the perfect winter-spring transitional skirt. Paired tons of grey(ish) layers on top and voilĂ !

A piece that I think every girl (and guy?) should have in their closet is a trench coat of some sort. Oversized, fitted, short, long - take your pick. This Lulu's oversized coat from BB Dakota is lightweight and incredible with anything and everything. I'll be doing the 1 piece, 3 ways series again so stay tuned for some more looks with this one!

Psst - 15% off at Lulu's with the code KRISTENGLAM (case sensitive, guys!) will be good until Saturday March 16, 2013! Get steppin' over to Lulu's!

A look from a new brand & Other Stories (spawned from H&M) that I'm hoping won't break the bank too much - my birthday wish is that they start shipping to the US real soon.

soundtrack 2 my life

These mom jeans aren't the most attractive of the bunch. Especially for a little shortie like me. But with just a little bit of height from these new Senso shoes, I think I can pull it off. I paired these highwaisted jeans with a crop top and a varsity jacket (as always). Obviously, I was feeling a little street, so these Urbanears were a perfect addition to the outfit, giving the outfit a bit of a nonchalant, hiphop vibe that it desperately needed.
