h&m conscious collection

Photos by Emily Malan

A week back in New York since Paris and I'm already aching for that beautiful city. Does Instagram  life get any better than that? No. No it doesn't.

Well this comes close - I partnered with H&M to show y'all another incredible Conscious collection - this time with this gorgeous too-long-but-don't-care trench coat and sequin dress that I haven't decided whether it was appropriate for a wedding.

Always keep it casual with my favorite suede ankle boots and a semi-put-together French braid - but I'd definitely rock this with some Chucks and a cute lil' backpack.

Any way you spin it, they're both wardrobe must-haves - so you guys better set the date. This collection will be in select stores and online on April 16th!

a week too early

Photos by Emily Malan

I wore this outfit just a week too early - with snow still on the ground and cold winds still in the air. But it only seemed fitting that on the warmest day of the year so far, this outfit goes up on the blog today.

Happy Spring everybody. Here's hoping it actually stays.

public decency

I'm always in some form of lingerie (and my parents do not approve), but the trick to wearing lingerie in public is to dress it down with something totally casual like this denim dress. Plaid works too.

I love getting two-piece sets because it makes it easy for you to wear everything twice, three times, every day essentially. Stay tuned for the matching skirt to this Pixie Market top, y'all!

sprung

Photos by Alvin

Spring has officially sprung - evident in the increasing amount of photos of flowers and green foliage on your Instagram feed (guilty as charged) - but I'm not mad at it. Because that means actually being able to wear this FCUK leather number with whatever mini dress I have on hand and beat up Converses. The perfect outfit for another rainy day at the Met.

the girl in the red coat

Spent a day this past Valentine's Day weekend in subzero temperatures in Central Park and took refuge at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which - if you haven't visited - is obviously a must-see for any tourist. For a native New Yorker, it's the best place to lose yourself for a few hours.

thanksgiving foliage

I don't normally post more than a few photos, but this has gotta be one of my favorite shoots to date so it was too hard to choose just a few, you guys know how much I love a brick wall (mark my words, my future apartment will have some sort of exposed brick!).

I had the chance to visit French Connection's flagship store down on West Broadway last week on that gloriously warm Friday and this jacket was one of the first things that caught my eye in the store. The really subtle plaid and houndstooth fusion is what really hooked me. Plus, it's such a unique length that I haven't tried yet. I wore the jumpsuit underneath, which was highly recommended by pretty much everyone in the store (thanks Kristi!) - it was definitely too cold to show off how incredible it fits but will definitely be wearing this over and over and over again.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all! Enjoy food and family!

summer-spring-fall to winter

Here's how to make the best of your summer-spring-fall wardrobe for the frigid cold, and it's an easy one. Take some fur, shearling - something fuzzy and impossibly warm - and layer it under your denim jacket for a casual look - and here's a plus, no need for a scarf if you've got a foot of shearling hugged around your neck.

When Forever21 sent me this baby from the Mickey by Forever21 collection, I had rekindled my love for an oversized denim jacket fit. Best of all, it's got a vintage Mickey surprise in the back! For those of you in less than consistent weather - New York, here's looking at you - how do you guys re-wear your summer-spring-fall pieces for the winter?

Enjoy the weekend, y'all!

headfirst into fall

There we go, the layers are coming back. Unnecessarily early, but I don't mind it.

Happy Monday, y'all!

functional layers on fifth

An example of functional layers, living in New York's taught me how to layer properly, without suffocating and feeling like a fat marshmallow under them. Keep your layers thin - like this button down - under a thicker sweater. Throw an oversized coat on top of everything and you're ready to brave the infamous Flatiron wind chill.

I MUSTACHE YOU A QUESTION

It was an extremely hectic day yesterday - woke up ridiculously late, blindly threw on this oversized sweater and statement pants (because oversized sweaters are simple and effortless), drove to the city to avoid public transportation hell, spent the entire day packing goodies at work to send out for a few darling bloggers. I barely had time to have coffee (and if you know me, coffee practically flows through my veins). Being that it was my first time driving to the city, the yellow cabs were too aggressive for my suburban driving - needless to say, I will not be doing that again.

FREDDY

Wore snakeskin jeans and a striped sweater, unknowingly coming out looking like Freddy Krueger. This outfit was kind of perfect for a full day of work, the loafers give me just the right amount of height but still manages to give the comfort that I need to survive until 10 at night, the printed jeans - which are all the rage right now - add a faux texture to the outfit and the striped sweater? It's a striped sweater! How much more classic can you get?

I'm really looking forward to real New York spring weather - I just can't wait to wear shorts, skirts, dresses in sweet, flimsy fabrics.
