fire island

A few snaps from last weekend in Fire Island. It's crazy how one day at the beach can significantly improve my skin tone, by the end of the summer, it seems like the direction that I'm headed - I'll be nice and toasted by the end of the summer.

Oh, and pay no mind to my phone. It's on its last few lives.

Happy Friday, all!

soak it up

Soaking up some vitamin D on the Bowery rooftop (thanks Ted) on a beautiful Sunday afternoon after a long Saturday night in everything oversized (sorry, boys!) and my second (and certainly not last) pair of Birks.

Yes, I love looking like a boy. These oversized overalls are the most comfortable things I own right now - paired with the same Hawaiian shirt in my last posts, an oversized vest that I picked up from a thrift store and an iced coffee (always an iced coffee). Throw on my trusty backpack and you've got a get-up for every single weekend.

nyfw | jcrew fall winter '14

So much for trying to opt out of the New York Fashion Week craziness. Headed to the J.Crew Fall / Winter '14 presentation at the Pavilion this morning and man, oh man - the florals, prints, textures were everywhere. The silhouettes were surprisingly appropriate for the current weather, especially with all of the layering and I can definitely see myself in so many of these outfits. Plus, I just realized that I might need a pair of oversized sequin bermuda shorts.

Favorites? The casual grey sweaters / T's, the textured floral brocade and those puffer jackets. Hello winter, I welcome you.

a session in style

This blazer, I can't get over it. The simple stripes can literally go with everything in my wardrobe. I dressed down a pretty short slip with the blazer and it's instantly everything-appropriate.

the fine details

Untitled #8

Sometimes the details on an outfit are just as interesting as the outfit itself. In this case, it's all about the quilted details on yet another grey sweatshirt I own, a pair of tribal printed shoes and a few statement bracelets that make up that old forgotten concept of an arm party.

second thoughts

I've had this oversized overcoat (ha!) for a few years now and I've never pulled it out of the closet, truthfully was thinking about even selling it. There's something about this overcoat though, that just works and is just so practical for the current 30 degree weather happening in New York right now. I've also never given velvet cigarette pants a second thought, but paired with the right pieces - velvet can be a beautiful thing during the winter.

Also, will you take the time to be a fan of my Facebook page? Blog updates, personal updates, and more!

SKY HIGH MARY JANES, THE LEGAL KIND.

Yes, it's those infamous aztec pants again; the pants party is back! But this time, with a puke green (wrong choice of words?) sweater and a lace shirt peeking out of the collar for a touch of class. These wedges caused quite a problem for me today though. I almost tripped on more than one occasion on stairs, sidewalks, you name it.

I'm also loving the cut of this jacket, the lapels are such a unique cut, slouchy but the entire jacket is still structured and fits like it was made for me. New favorite? I think...yes.

Remember to follow me on these sites, I'm on them more often than I should. Especially Instagram, that's my guilty pleasure.
