varsity blues

Forever 21 tank | Proenza Schouler mini
Alexander Wang sunglasses and Gabriela Artigas thin cage cuff via lustcovetdesire

Having some major old school flashback in my WOODWOOD varsity jacket from lustcovetdesire and a pair of thrifted shorts that was a serious find during a lunch trip to Salvation Army (uh, yes. I thrift). Ok and about this Venessa Arizaga shark tooth necklace from lustcovetdesire - did I really need another one? Yes. The answer is yes I did.

Best believe I'll be packing most of this outfit to Cali tomorrow. See y'all there?

functional layers on fifth

An example of functional layers, living in New York's taught me how to layer properly, without suffocating and feeling like a fat marshmallow under them. Keep your layers thin - like this button down - under a thicker sweater. Throw an oversized coat on top of everything and you're ready to brave the infamous Flatiron wind chill.

The last look is a decidedly simple one; throwing a friend's high school varsity jacket over the MinkPink dress for a lazy sporty look photographed right at the cusp of sunset, the supposed golden hour.

the holidays : nicole miller giveaway

Photos by Landon
gifted Nicole Miller dress  |  Urban Outfitters jacket  |  Zara heels

There's something about the holidays that just makes everyone go insane with accessories. I didn't feel the need to throw any jewels on top of this dress and kept it simple with my favorite pair (and most comforable) of Zara heels and a sleek leather sleeved jacket that I bought recently on a whim. The chiffon bottom and side slit makes an otherwise relatively simple dress a little bit fancier and more party-appropriate. Nicole Miller always makes it easy for everyone to style it their own way, so they're giving you a chance to win this very dress to do just that!

For a chance to win a gorgeous Nicole Miller maxi dress of your own, here's what you've gotta do!

1. Follow @NicoleMillerNYC on Twitter.
2. Follow me on Bloglovin'.
3. Tweet me at @kristengracelam with #NMHolidays and comment below with your email address and tell me what you're going to be wearing during the holidays.

I'll announce the winner on Twitter and Facebook a week from now on Wednesday, November 28th, 2012 - so fingers crossed and good luck everyone!

lazy habits

Photos by Landon of FashionGoggled

These days I've picked up extremely lazy habits of dressing like a boy, it all depends on my mood. And when it comes to an early post-Sandy Monday when I'm feeling under the weather - a boy's polka dot sweater, my never-fail sneaker heels and my absolute favorite leather sleeved varsity jacket will have to do.

I've been convinced that this intiMint maxi dress is sleepwear, but sometimes sleepwear can totally work towards your favor in terms of comfort. To tell you the truth, the low back is really what sold me, the lace bralette makes it more daytime appropriate. I went a little nuts and threw on my new favorite Wasteland jacket and a pair of comfortable studded sneakers from Necessary Clothing that I've been wearing on the regular. I'm wearing a lot of looks, but listen, it was just one of those days.

happiness ensues

Photos by blogger boyfriend Landon / FashionGoggled

If you've seen me walking around these past few weeks, chances are, I'm wearing these sneaker wedges. I've been looking for sneakers for a while, ever since I fell in love with the Isabel Marant Beketts on practically everyone and did a post on sneakers here. The cartoonish charm of the Isabel Marants are what really drew me in, and although there were tons of suede shoes to choose from - Ash and ASOS - none had quite the character as the Marants. I wasn't about to spend $700 on a pair of shoes, although was seriously contemplating it, so when I saw these Hilights, I didn't hesitate to surrender my credit card to the cashier and purchase the most obnoxious, awesome pair of shoes currently in my possession.
