ruffle my feathers

Photos by Ashley Jahncke

Ashley's always been and always will be one of my favorite photographers - and I'm beyond lucky to be able to work with her on both a personal and professional level. She makes you feel insanely comfortable in front of the camera and off. It doesn't hurt that she's one of the sweetest people too.

So we're at the tail-end of fashion week - but don't fret! Working on more videos for y'all when it's not hellishly cold outside.

living in it

Living in this shirt. Living in these shoes. And you already know I'm living in this bag. Done, done and done. Not much to say on a Monday morning, is there?

epitome

This weekend's attire for another cold and rainy week in New York. I love my grey hues to no end and this outfit is the epitome of me (ha!), pairing highs (when I can afford them, duh) and lows and grey everywhere. Case in point: Proenza and H&M, y'all.

Also, contemplating a YouTube channel filled with videos of sweet nothings - yes no maybe so?

I'm all about understated style, and when it comes to denim, I only have a few favorites. Recent came across MIA+MOSS and after receiving a pair of their slim boyfriend jeans in a subtle pinstripe (in my camouflage flurries post), I had to check out what they have lined up in the next few months. At Coterie, I was able to feel the other textures and fall in love with the other silhouettes that MIA+MOSS offered and let me tell you, their upcoming collection will blow your mind - I mean...quilted pockets, people!

nyfw | jcrew fall winter '14

So much for trying to opt out of the New York Fashion Week craziness. Headed to the J.Crew Fall / Winter '14 presentation at the Pavilion this morning and man, oh man - the florals, prints, textures were everywhere. The silhouettes were surprisingly appropriate for the current weather, especially with all of the layering and I can definitely see myself in so many of these outfits. Plus, I just realized that I might need a pair of oversized sequin bermuda shorts.

Favorites? The casual grey sweaters / T's, the textured floral brocade and those puffer jackets. Hello winter, I welcome you.

This long coat - obviously a big favorite of mine - makes it so easy for me to put outfits together when the day's weather just doesn't call for anything fancy. Not sure if you guys have heard of handvaerk but damn, this is my absolute favorite grey crew neck, it's just so soft and fits perfectly around my shoulders. Check out the other styles that they have on their site. My eyes are own their perfect crew neck sweatshirt or a grey henley that I surprisingly don't own in my closet.

And drum roll please...congratulations Mariah Bowen, you're the winner of the AdoreMe giveaway! I'll be shooting you an email soon so keep a lookout. Thanks everyone for participating and there'll be more where that came from ;)

florals in full

Lulu's floral dress  |  H&M cashmere sweater  |  vintage Coach bag

I wish you guys could see the full floral glory of this Lulu's floral dress. Chiffon, floral and backless - it looks like I'm on the wrong side of America, y'all. But hey, throw my favorite grey cashmere sweater over it and you've got an outfit fit to bear the insane polar vortex that never seems like it's gonna end.

Greeting the third snowstorm this winter in New York with a brave face, a new favorite wide-brimmed hat and a delicious cold brew in hand.

Granted, it's less than appropriate to be sporting bare legs right now in New York, but I can't get over this (half of a) sweater right now from Front Row Shop, I can see myself layering this over practically everything. FRS curates everything for the chic minimalist that loves to play around with crazy good silhouettes and monochromatic pieces. Here are some of my other favorites from the site!

quiksilver delicates

Quiksilver sleeveless blouse  |  Quiksilver silk dress  |  thrifted Coach heels

New York has hit us with a bout of breezy transitional fall weather that taunts me and reminds me of spring. So I layered up with chiffon and silk, I can't stop wearing this horse printed Quiksilver top, it adds detail without overpowering any outfit - which is weird, because you'd think a full-on horse print would be the statement piece. The people at Quiksilver are really doing something right. If you catch me on the weekends walking around, chances are, I'll be wearing this shirt, and that's the truth.

Quiksilver Women has a campaign called Traveling Sweaters, where different bloggers style one sweater a few different ways and it gets passed down to each blogger. Cute idea, huh? Their Sweater Weather event the other night was such a hit, and the décor? Adorable.

ALOHA HAWAII

Photos by the handsome Landon from FashionGoggled

Thrifted Hawaiian shirt (actually H&M though - similar here)   |  c/o David Kahn skinnys  |  Zara metal capped flats (this one is super affordable)  |  H&M cage ring (similar here)  |  obligatory arm party

The subtle acid wash prints of these David Kahn jeans clashes a bit with the crazy Hawaiian shirt, doesn't it? I kind of like that pattern chaos going on though - threw on some gold and silver jewelry and voilà; my own take on a Hawaiian tourist look. This shirt I love, it's so Alexander Wang on a budget.

David Kahn is starting to become one of my favorite brands, it baffles me how perfectly their jeans fit my legs - they definitely go way outside of the box in terms of prints and colors. Kudos!

I have a collaboration with a vintage retail site soon and a couple of cool reviews for you guys so stay put. Tomorrow's Wednesday, aka hump day - we can make it through the week, guys.

Toodles!

CELEBRATORY BALLOON RED PANTS!

Photos by the incredible, edible Landon

Gap leather jacket (similar here) | Zara shirt | American Apparel red zip jeans | Senso shoes | Thrifted gold choker | c/o Glam Rock rose gold watch (buy here)

You're also looking at a new digital media assistant! I am officially a working girl, and I'm completely honored and humbled to be joining the Bollare team. They've been so nice and so welcoming, I couldn't ask for more!

So to celebrate my new job, I've got some extremely loud pants. I'm obsessed with them though! I paired it with this Zara shirt that's pretending to be a damn abstract painting, but it's oh so pretty.

And for those who follow me on Instagram (@kristenglam), you'd know that I've been wearing this rose gold watch from Glam Rock Watches almost every single day. You're probably sick of it. Can you blame me though?
