adidas NEO label | the polyvore looks

Yesterday, Colby, Melanie, Claudia, Rachel and Nicole and I had the honor of sifting through all the Polyvore entries for the adidas NEO label contest. We each chose 15 final looks to pin to our board for the runway show. I'll be joining my fellow bloggers in the front row with Selena Gomez and will also be - drumroll please - giving away 2 tickets (you and a friend!) to the show on Wednesday, February 6th 2013!

50 degree weather celebration

Once the temperature hits above 50 degrees, especially after a few days of seemingly negative degree weather, I had to jump at the chance to wear a skirt and a crop top to celebrate. A couple degrees warmer and I would've gone to the beach. Really.

It was too warm to snow and too cold to rain - it was that sort of in between sleet that everyone hates. I went with an all black outfit, because that just seems to be everyone's default color. I dedicate this post to Fez, the creator of the term #gorgcouture and dresses everyday like he's going to the chicest funeral ever.

There's something humbling about being photographed by someone of such genuine talent. When I met Kimi of Tan Camera in real life, her personality was infectious and being around her was so easy, you'd think I'd known her for a while. You're gonna see her, her fiery hair and her new pup, Agnes around a lot more. But if you're really looking to get to know her, she's got a blog too, and she's got the most insane closet and personal style.

It wasn't too hard to carry myself through the day - sans caffeine - with these buttery leather pants of my dreams - perfectly slouchy, beautifully made and such a good deal that they were practically free.

adidas NEO label

I mixed it up and played on the very street style aspect of a lot of the styles in the collection with a buffalo plaid mens shirt, a pair of neon skinnies and black mid sneakers.

The last look is a decidedly simple one; throwing a friend's high school varsity jacket over the MinkPink dress for a lazy sporty look photographed right at the cusp of sunset, the supposed golden hour.

Thinking out of the box meant simply layering a thin chiffon button down underneath the dress and wearing it as a shirt. That kind of double play only works when they're both such easy layering pieces. Complete with an oversized coat, ankle jeans (during the winter, might I add?) and a carry-all satchel by way of Etienne Aigner.

It shows your boldness, your courage to brave the elements of breakfast, lunch and dinner and your triumph when at the end of the day, the dress is just as white and clean as it was when the day started.

I wore the dress as a skirt, it's the perfect flimsy crepe material that just works. Wrinkles? They add character.
